New Job Title: Graduate Trainee, Business Analyst Central Marketing
Doosan Babcock's graduate training programme has an excellent reputation, focuses on developing people, and provides endless career opportunities. The flexibility of the scheme is one of the things that made it so attractive. It is my scheme, and I decide what I get from it.
With my qualifications, a career with an engineering company was perhaps not the most obvious choice. I joined the Graduate Training Programme at Doosan Babcock in September 2012 after a 3-week placement during my degree.
As a graduate at Doosan Babcock, I have the opportunity to move within departments to fully understand how the business operates. Being a business or engineering graduate does not limit you to certain disciplines; everyone has the opportunity to try whichever department they feel will best fit their development needs and career aspirations.
Doosan Babcock has a growing global presence. The graduate scheme recognises that you could be a part of that growth: placements can involve travel to national and international locations.
During my first three months with the company, I was part of the central marketing team where I've been able to develop my knowledge and skills in market analysis.
I've been involved in a number of important projects and have been able to develop a solid base for my own career development.
Doosan Babcock encourages constant professional and personal development, providing a number of academic as well as training courses.
The company strives to help individuals achieve chartered status in their chosen discipline. Support is always available, with mentors being assigned, and there are regular graduate events and conferences where you can ask advice and get to know people who have been in the same position as you.
With rewarding personal and professional progress at Doosan Babcock, I’m excited for the future – its many challenges and opportunities – and about being a part of Doosan.
